A boyish figure represents the Christ Child in the guise of a pilgrim, with staff and cloak, and the hat inscribed with the Monogram I. H. C. The cruciform halo adds to the identity of the figure.

His support symbolizes both land and water, over which He has traveled. He carries the Bible and the gourd, and His staff is marked with the Cross.

In the background, near His head, an elderly traveler is represented on his way toward the bright Gates of Heaven.

In the border, breaking the cloud-like design at intervals, are stars and shells, symbols of Baptism and Hope.

At the base is the Memorial Inscription, "Henry and Margaret Edwards".
